We wish Dr Richard Hughes a happy and healthy retirement as he steps down on 31 October after 5 and half years serving as Executive Secretary. We would also like to give a warm welcome to Simon Thompson, our new Chief Executive who steps into the role on 1 November 2022.

Members get free access to work and study in our central London office, Burlington House. Use our meeting rooms and access our library.

The Geological Society Library is a research library which offers members the best of both worlds: rich historical and archive collections as well as the most up-to-date information resources in print and electronic formats. The Library’s experienced staff are available to answer any enquiries by phone, email or in person – just ask! 

Opening hours: Tuesday to Thursday, 10:00am to 5.00pm
